To this end, monthly information on the variables of oil price, exchange rate, liquidity and stock returns in the Tehran Stock Exchange in the period of April 2008 to March 2020 were collected. The results of the research model estimate using the nonlinear Markov switching approach indicated that the exchange rate in both regimes has a positive and significant effect on market stock returns. Oil price fluctuations in the first regime have a negative and significant effect, and in the second regime, it has a positive and significant effect on market stock returns. Finally, the share of monetary instruments as an indicator of monetary policy in changes in stock returns was estimated to be less than 10%.https://www.eeer.ir/article_156633_f1c3fe0eaf9877117c0916718e265b0c.pdfEnvironmental Energy and Economic ResearchEnvironmental Energy and Economic Research2538-49887120230201Process Optimization and Mathematical Modeling of Cartridge Filter Cleanup Using Pulse Jet Air Ring (PJAR) Technology11115733710.22097/eeer.2022.352655.1259ENAbdolreza AnsariDepartment of Environmental Engineering, Kish international campus, University of Tehran, Kish, IranAlireza PardakhtiDepartment of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Environment, University of Tehran, Tehran, IranNaser MehrdadiDepartment of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Environment, University of Tehran, Tehran, IranJournal Article20220720Dust abatement is frequently performed using filters. The biggest challenge facing filter usage in different industries, is to sustainably clean and recycle them in order to reduce costs and increase filtration quality. A novel technology of Pulse Jet Air Ring (PJAR) has been invented in order to consume less time and energy, and to emit less pollutants into the air. In this method, a ring is installed around the filter body which is able to jet the air with a high speed in order to remove the dust around filter media. To get the best results, optimization of effective process parameters is necessary. Central composite design (CCD) of response surface methodology (RSM) is employed to optimize the cleanup process. Based on statistical analysis and optimization, the highest Pressure Difference percentage is accessible at the air pressure of 5.10 Bar, Velocity 43.00 m/s and Time 50.00 ms. The technique can be recommended as an economical as well as environmentally friendly technology.https://www.eeer.ir/article_157337_126378a64eeb76b237b0aafd05187999.pdfEnvironmental Energy and Economic ResearchEnvironmental Energy and Economic Research2538-49887120230201Evaluation of Landscape Dynamics in City Thermal Islands (Case Study: City of Birjand, Iran)12516176110.22097/eeer.2022.356717.1263ENFatemeh KafiDepartment of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment, University of Birjand, Birjand, IranElham YousefiDepartment of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment, University of Birjand, Birjand, Iran0000-0002-5396-6402Fatemeh JahanishakibDepartment of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment, University of Birjand, Birjand, IranJournal Article20220818One of the most common climatic phenomena associated with urban issues is urban heat islands. Therefore, it is essential for urban planning to study this phenomenon. This article aims to investigate the performance of extraction methods for heat islands and introduce the prior method. Also, identify and analyze the landscape dynamics of heat islands over time in the study area. For this purpose, at first, the land surface temperature (LST) in the city of Birjand, was extracted using the satellite images in the years 2000–2019 in two cold and warm seasons using the mono-window, Planck's equation, radiative transfer equation, and single-channel method in the two seasons of summer and winter. The statistical method of mean absolute error was used for the comparison and selection of the accurate method. The results showed that the accuracy of the single-channel method (Landsat) was higher than other algorithms (MAE = 3.38 °C). The landscape dynamics were also identified using a package of landscape metrics, including PSSD, MPS, CA, NP, and MPFD. On the other hand, during the study period, the summer trend of the city's air quality showed an improvement in the condition of the land in the southern and eastern parts, and the winter trend showed an improvement in the condition of the land in the eastern to northern parts of the city. As a result, the phenomenon of urban heat islands in hot, dry weather causes a decrease in the temperature of the earth's surface with the increase of urban areas.https://www.eeer.ir/article_161761_61b9a73e5216117656916a2f6e379217.pdfEnvironmental Energy and Economic ResearchEnvironmental Energy and Economic Research2538-49887120230201The Relationship Between Earnings Management and Firm Performance in the Companies Listed in Tehran Stock Exchange: The Function of Firm Size11016162110.22097/eeer.2022.362492.1264ENSimin Mojoodiniay KasmaeiFaculty of Management and Accounting, Islamic Azad University, Rasht, IranMohammad Javad Tasaddi KariFaculty of Management and Accounting, Islamic Azad University, Rasht, Iran0000-0002-0552-6453Journal Article20220917In the process of earnings management, the financial reports are changed in order to misguide shareholders about the firm basic performance, or to affect the contractual outcomes associated with reported accounting numbers, which can be positive or negative for firm performance under some conditions. In the present study, it was aimed to determine the relationship between earnings management and firm performance. The research population included the present listed companies on the Tehran Stock Exchange during 2013-2018. After screening, data related to 105 companies were analyzed through panel approach. No remarkable relationship was discovered between earnings management and firm performance based on the obtained results. Moreover, firm size indicated a significant relationship with performance. It seems that in the conditions of financial crisis and the instability of economic structures, some managers were interested in earnings management, which was implemented through various approaches in the firm ultimately affecting its performance. However, such an effect was not significant in the current study.https://www.eeer.ir/article_161621_f59f2150ac61e1651a52e2e784ccb630.pdfEnvironmental Energy and Economic ResearchEnvironmental Energy and Economic Research2538-49887120230201Feasibility Assessment of Bioethanol Production in Arid Regions using Date Palm Feedstock11116162210.22097/eeer.2022.366381.1268ENHossein YousefiDepartment of Renewable Energies and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of New Sciences and Technologies, University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran0000-0002-6372-5127Sanaz TabasiDepartment of Renewable Energies and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of New Sciences and Technologies, University of Tehran, Tehran, IranAli MohammadiDepartment of Water Engineering, College of Abouraihan, University of Tehran, Tehran, IranJournal Article20221019Climate change and the need to manage diminishing fossil fuel reserves are two of the biggest challenges facing the planet. It is widely accepted that we must now reduce the fossil energy consumption and increase the renewable energies production substantially. To achieve these targets, fossil fuels should be replaced by the renewable energies. One of the important renewable energies is biomass that gradually has become more popular for its production technology in recent years. This study focuses on the innovative production of bio-ethanol as a clean and efficient fuel. In this study, the date crop, which is found in arid regions including Iran, was selected as the raw material for bioethanol production. It was shown that Iran has a high potential of producing date crops and it is, unfortunately, going to be wasted yearly. Therefore, date crops are introduced as a new feedstock to produce bio-ethanol in Iran. Hence, feasibility and economic evaluation of this ingenious method are analyzed. According to 2014 statistics, the amount of bio-ethanol production from date crops calculated, 352873.91 tons in Iran. Then, the best region for this production identified based on the amount of date produced, annually. Following that, the profitability of this project is shown through NPV calculation that obtained 203 $M. Therefore, the payback period is considered as less than one year which proves that the idea of using date crops for ethanol production is highly economical in Iran.https://www.eeer.ir/article_161622_00ce8fdcc9cd3d3dc79c6818d21d328f.pdfEnvironmental Energy and Economic ResearchEnvironmental Energy and Economic Research2538-49887120230201Evaluating the Value of Vegetation Ecosystem Services in District 16 of Tehran Municipality using the i-Tree Model11716351510.22097/eeer.2022.363118.1265ENHossein VahidiDepartment of Environment, Institute of Science and High Technology and Environmental Sciences, Graduate University of Advanced Technology, Kerman, IranMajid Ramezani MehrianDepartment of Environmental Studies, Institute for Research and Development in the Humanities (SAMT), Tehran, Iran0000-0002-0216-299XAmin JalayerFaculty of Environment, University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran0000-0002-1767-5595Mohsen Esfahani ZadehFaculty of Environment, University of Tehran, Tehran, IranAzadeh Ali HosseiniFaculty of Urban Planning, Fine Arts Campus, University of Tehran, Tehran, IranJournal Article20220921Awareness of the structure, function, and value of vegetation and green space in cities can improve management decisions related to human health and the condition of the environment. In 2015, an assessment of the vegetation in the Tehran urban vegetation was done. The i-Tree Eco model was used to evaluate data from 36 field plots situated throughout Tehran D16. This study assimilates the i-Tree Eco model to assess the value of vegetation ecosystem services in District 16 of Tehran Municipality, one of the greenest areas. Based on public trees managed by the district municipality, eliminated about 67 tons of pollutants in one year. This pollution reduction includes about 5 tons of CO, 13 tons of NO2, 8 tons of O3, 35 tons of PM10, and 15 tons of SO2. Two factors, including tree cover and concentrations of air pollutions, significantly affect air pollution removal. Urban trees have a critical role in mitigating air pollution. However, the limitations and increasing sources of production of pollutants, especially air pollutants, are not the only key to this trouble. Therefore, it is advised to increase the per capita and principled maintenance of public urban green space, along with indicators such as environmental characteristics, adjacent urban structures, street design, climate, and the most important plant species compatible with the region.https://www.eeer.ir/article_163515_11b7319a944b01f9400a1d45f085b4cf.pdf
